Many of you know I had a stroke 5 months ago. I am doing well and recovering rapidly. Part of the reason I am doing so well is because of the game of golf. I got from golf the willingness to overcome personal obstacles and lessons about how to do it. What I have overcome and accomplished in 5 months has floored my therapists and people here in our small town who knew me before and after the stroke. I tell everyone – learn the game of golf.
So far, I’ve recovered the full use of my right side. My speech has returned, but it will take a few more months of speech therapy before I’m writing golf books again, but I’ll get there.
I’ve been blessed with the help of golfers and pros who have rallied to my side since my stroke. They want me to keep my tournament book program going, and I am going to.
I started this program to give the game we all love more life. We cannot let golfers leave this game. It saved my life when I was a boy. I became a caddy at the age of 12, and with that move, I escaped the abuse in our family that actually contributed to my sister’s death. I recounted this story in my second book, Golf Gave Me Something to Love. Now, golf has saved my life a second time by showing me how to overcome this stroke.
We must let golfers know what this game really means. So, my incredible wife Mary Anne is retooling my tournament book program, in addition to taking care of my physical well being. She is bringing in the other golf authors who, like me, write stories that explain the heart of the game. Together, we’re the golfers who can get love for the game flowing at your club – and that’s what we’re going to do.
We’re going to bring you the most evocative and innovated golf books in the game – in the form of the new tournament gift you’ve been asking for.
Your course’s picture will be on the cover of our books. You’ll be able to easily order through this web site – after screening videos promos of our books – and there’ll be no minimum.
You’re going to be proud to give these books out at your club – I can promise you that – and golf will get a gift from you. It will give the game more motivated golfers and the understanding of what golf really is about, both physically and mentally.
I gave my job as a golf author everything I had. The stress of what I tried to do brought me to my knees, but now I have help. I have gotten back up off my knees and I am dedicated to golf and grateful for the game and that I know all of you.
